I woke up from a dust grain tickling my nose. I openend my eyes. Had to find orientation. Tried to remember my dream. I couldn't remember.
Light fell through the shutters. A street light.
I can hear the waves in the ocean. The rest is silent.
I walk on my tiptoes to the door, grab my camera and slip throughout the door.
Sit down in the sand.
There is a silence. An endless silence. The day is still sleeping.
And with this silence there comes a peace.
The peace of every new morning. It's a new dawn.
It's a new day.
It's a new life.
Here I am. Here I am.
And with me all my memories.
Here I am.
And here I wanna be.
Sitting in the sand.
Wasn't that the start? The start of my new adventure? I wrote about the waves. I wrote about the shore.
I wrote about the swim. I wrote about the slow steps into the water. Or the fast run in my case.
I wrote:
"It’s
like I’m standing on the shore. Every wave arrive the sand and every wave seems
to say ‚come with me, I take you out into the big world’. I think the time has come
where I have to chase the next wave and take it. So that I swim. No longer
standing on the shore, dreaming about how it’d be in the sea. Take the chance
and JUMP!"
But I didn't wrote about the lifebelt, that keeps me safe from drowning.
Because I didn't know it exists.
I have a lifebelt which had me safe for all those years in my life.
Which was never seperated from me.
My family. My friends.
They hold me tight. Whatever happens.
And they still do.
Sometimes we see things only when they're gone.
Or far away.
So have a look and realise what is important to your life.
Sitting in the sand, eyes curve over the Atlantic.
I look behind me.
There are my footprints in the sand.
A wave arrives, rolling over the sand.
Snof my footprints out.
Illegible, blurred, unshaped. That's what remains.
I lift my eyes and see the dove.
The white dove sailing towards the sun.
Without hesitating, without turning around. All the way towards the sun.
I hear the familiar sound of a squeak. Hear flippers splashing.
Then I see them.
A group of dolphins. The streamlined bodies moving in the waves. Dancing in the water.
I lift my camera and spot them through the finder.
Triggered.
I turn around and walk back. Without hesitating, without turning around.
Here I am.
Behind me, just my footprints in the sand.
