Time goes by...

Monday evening after an amazing weekend, thinking about this year.

I'm already three months here. It was not always easy, that's for sure. I remember, when I came here, I mean before, I read that book called 'Bye bye Ben'. The girl in it spent her year in California and everything was perfect. Believe me, it's not.

August, 8th 2012.
It seems like yesterday. And it seems like 500 years away. I was a different person back then but basically still the same. It was a day something new started. I threw myself in something unknown.
I knew nothing. I entered a plane. There was a destination, printed on my ticket, written on my passport. But where did I want to go? That was one of the questions leading me on my way. I remember the happiness but especially the excitement for something new. A bunch of teenagers, between 15 and 18, together in a plane. Heading off for a new life, changing everything that was before. There was this incertitude. This uncertainity. But the anticipation led us. It was a long flight. We cried, we smiled, we were nervous, we were sad but I would say we were just excited and ready to receive whatever was going to happen.

I was surprised how easy it was. All I had to do was to enter a plane. I never left the European country before. I never thought I would. It seemed like a dream. Unreachable, untangible. I didn't realize that I was leaving for one year. At the airport it seemed so unreal. The desire for talking to people, see them, hug them and be with them was not imaginable.

An exchange year is not just a change of location and language. It s a change of culture. And even if that doesn't sound hard or scary at all. It is! Believe me. There is so much more to a culture than it seems. Little words, little gestures, friendliness and actions can mean something completly different. Yes, an exchange year brings lot of confusion. It is a emotional rollercoster ride, but isn't that life anyways? Things are working different in different countries and it is sometimes hard to see through and it definetl takes a long while.

But although it is hard, and there are tears flowing and sad moments, the good moments are indescribable and trenormous happy! I love it here and I would do it again, definetly!
it is wonderful here and I love everyone who helps me to make it easier for me! thank you!

So if you consider to do an exchange year, definetly do it, it s the best thing I ever did!! Or do!! Yes! I love it! It s like a new world, new friends help me creating them and my hostfamily is almost like my real family! I love them! :)
