Happy New Year in San Francisco

On New Year's Eve we took the plane from Las Vegas to San Francisco!
After we checked in in our hotel, which is actually right next to Pier 39, we drove up to small French bistrot called Chez Papa, and OMG THE FOOD WAS SO GOOD!!
I wish I'd taken a picture of the menu :/ well what I have is picture of the dessert: :D

About the Goldrush and Chinatown
Afterwards we went to the Westfield shopping mall, it is so huge!!! They have everything!
The rest of the day we spent in Chinatown.
San Francisco has one of the biggest Chinatowns in America due to the Goldrush in 1849. After the first gold nugget was discovered (that was btw on the farm of a Swiss immigrant called John Sutter:)) people from all over the world streamed into California. The city San Fran basically grew overnight, thousands of residents from all over the world needed a spot to stay. Many Chinese men came and settled in their own little sections where they preserved their language and cultures. Their goal was to find some gold, get rich and go back. However, gold was found by hardly anyone. Often the miners ended up with even less than they had before, and definetly not enough to afford a journey back. That's why still today San Fran is a so called melting pot, a city with an unusual high diversity, which makes it so interesting and unique.

yes, whole ducks :S

It was a great New Year's day with lots of impression of this beautiful city San Fran.
